Description
A little sample of the show to come, on the outer stage of the hula-hula sideshow on the midway at the Oxford County Fair, held each year in September at Norway/Paris.
The photo provides a visual historical record of some of the activities common to small county agricultural fairs in the 1940s and early 1950s. No longer countenanced, freak shows began to appear at fairs early on, and by the late 1930s dancing girls, were often present in a limited component at the Oxford County Fair. These dancers belong to a sideshow billed as the Hawaiian Follies.
